Summer Celebration Planned for Fifth Anniversary of Mimoco,
the MIMOBOT Designer USB Flash Drive Company
Mimoco, renowned for its collection of MIMOBOT® designer USB flash drives, is celebrating its fifth anniversary with the introduction of new designs, exclusive 'bots, and the reissue of original MIMOBOT characters. Since the company's inception, Mimoco has grown to offer hundreds of MIMOBOT designs and characters through collaborations with artists in the designer vinyl toy scene, as crossovers with iconic franchises like Star Wars™ and Hello Kitty®, and as original creations hailing from far out Planet Blõôh.
Having launched their MIMOBOT line in the summer of 2005 at San Diego Comic Con, Mimoco's anniversary celebration centers on a string of product announcements taking place over the next six weeks starting with today's re-release of four original limited edition Core Series characters in new colorways. Isadore, the very first MIMOBOT character to be flashported to Earth, and last seen five years ago, returns in a new green color variant. He is joined by a blue Fairybit, a purple Swirl, and a fourth generation black RayD81. All are now available in 2GB to 16GB capacities.
"Our fans are extremely passionate about our 'bots, and part of bringing back the old favorites is to offer our loyal fans the MIMOBOT drives that started it all," says founder Evan Blaustein. "Celebrating our five-year anniversary is a milestone event for us and we're stoked for what's in store on the MIMOBOT horizon for this and many seasons to come."
Summertime kicks off Mimoco's tradeshow circuit, where a slew of new MIMOBOT flash drives will be unveiled. Mimoco will pay homage to Star Wars and Sanrio - both celebrating big anniversaries of their own - with MIMOBOTs dedicated to Empire Strikes Back and Hello Kitty's friends. Next week's Taipei Toy Festival hosts the exclusive launch of a new Artist Series MIMOBOT by Hong Kong illustrator and designer toy pioneer, Kenny Wong. Each stop after Taipei marks the release of additional MIMOBOT characters and more, including exclusive Core Series characters and Star Wars MIMOBOTs at San Diego Comic Con and Star Wars Celebration in Orlando.
In addition to their tour and product line expansion, Mimoco is in the midst of accepting entries for its second design challenge with partner Infectious.com, maker of electronics skins and skateboard decks. The community challenge calls on artists and graphic designers to create their best "Unmasked" MIMOBOT characters. The submission period ends July 15th and the first entries can be viewed and voted on at http://www.infectious.com/ voting/contest/mimobot2.
