GINGER AND THE GHOST Premiere "One Type of Dark" on The Wild Honey Pie || EP Out Spring 2013

On the heels of their acclaimed teaser video "Where Wolf", the Sydney-based experimental-pop duo Ginger And The Ghost are excited to premiere their eagerly anticipated new single "One Type Of Dark" via The Wild Honey Pie. "One Type of Dark" is the first single from the band's debut EP due for release in Spring 2013.

Whether it's through seeing their videos, hearing their music, or experiencing their live show, Ginger And The Ghost will draw you into their creations with their striking imagery and visual-music style. As musicians and visual artists, Ginger and the Ghost have transformed imagination into song. Hiding away in a converted cement water tank studio in the northern New South Wales hinterland, Ginger And The Ghost found the freedom to create. Driven by the idea of writing and recording in a spontaneous way, they utilised whatever tools were at hand to shape their sound. From bicycle wheels to body percussion, their music is driven by instinct, intuition, and an innate sense of trust in each other.

In Ginger's own words:
"The song is a story about my inner child's imagination. As she leaves a subconscious dreamstate in bed, she floats out of the window and into thoughts of otherworldly places. Questions with infinite possibilities are asked while visions of herself play out fantastical adventures across far away galaxies.  It’s a celebration of our imagination and the importance of keeping it."

To coincide with the release of the new single, Ginger And The Ghost will be traveling to South Australia and performing at the Gorgeous Festival alongside Missy Higgins, Josh Pyke, Gossling and The Preatures and many more.

Independent Singer/Songwriter Aria Knight Debuts New Music From Her Upcoming Summer 2013 Release in San Francisco in Early December

After many years of live performance in both the San Francisco Bay Area and in New York, Aria Knight brings her new songs to a live audience for the first time in San Francisco for two shows in early December. The shows include a performance at Karneycopia, a weekly Singer/Songwriter event in the SOMA district at Brainwash Café, and a set at Independent Distribution Collective’s Holiday Party at the Union Room in the Union Square neighborhood. This run will be capped off with a few studio sessions at Petting Zoo Studios in Emeryville, CA, working with producer/engineer Ben Bernstein (New Monsoon, Deborah Crooks, Ian Franklin).

Aria Knight is a singer/songwriter who was born in San Francisco and who graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts with a degree in Vocal Performance. Over the past few years Aria has been writing music and performing live throughout the New York area, and although New York has provided some inspiration, her Bay Area roots are also at the heart of her musical experiences. The music Aria writes is stylistically diverse, drawing upon an eclectic source of musical influences that range from alternative rock to indie electronic to contemporary folk. Subject matter and the depth of her lyrics (in an age where these aspects of music are commonly neglected in the mainstream) are of utmost importance to Aria as an artist, and are the driving force behind her songs.

Using music to share her personal experience and to voice issues from new perspectives are two of her main goals, which she finds especially pressing as a member of the LGBTQ community. Her lyrics speak to emotions that transcend sexuality, doing so with the kind of raw emotion and honesty that listeners can’t help but find endearing, making accessible the kinds of pervasive struggles and passions that everyone, gay, straight, or otherwise, have to face.

On her debut album, set to release in the summer of 2013, Aria’s music delves into her struggles with personal demons, sexuality, relationships, fear, uncertainty, and pressure to be what you “should” be and not who you are. Through her strong vision and collaboration with a variety of talented musicians, she creates a collection of songs that are musically complex, deeply personal, and widely relatable.

Live performances will be held on Wednesday December 5th at Karneycopia at Brainwash Café 1122 Folsom Street, San Francisco, CA

Saturday December 8th at The Union Room 401 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA

Both performances will begin at 8pm.

Kate Miller-Heidke and VYou Present Interactive Single Campaign for "Sarah"

KATE MILLER-HEIDKE TEAMS UP WITH SOCIAL PLATFORM VYOU FOR INTERACITVE CAMPAIGN AROUND NEW SINGLE "SARAH"

Chart-topping Australian singer/songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke has teamed up with interactive video platform VYou on a fan engagement campaign for her latest single, "Sarah."

The bewitching new single from Kate's lastest album Nightflight tells a horrific true tale of a teenage girl who disappears at a music festival. Kate Miller-Heidke paired up with VYou to create a custom fan experience via a tab on her Facebook page.

VYou allows users to share short video responses to questions. In this unique partnership, Kate invites fans to learn the story behind the song and then asks them to contribute their own scary stories in response to her own behind the "Sarah" single.

According to Kate, "This story happened to one of my best friends from high school, and the story's told from her point of view.  In Grade 9, her friend went missing at a music festival and two weeks later, just turned up at her parents' house with no memory of where she had been. My friend was never allowed to see her again, because everybody blamed her. To this day, my friend doesn't know what happened, because her parents broke off contact. My friend and I had a sleepover in Grade 10, and she told this story to me over several hours while we were lying in our beds with our lights off. I've never forgotten it."

GLOBAL QUEST FOR RARE BEATLES MEDIA IS LAUNCHED!

Amateur Footage, Photos & Sound Will Tell the Story of
The Beatles Concert Tours in Planned Feature Film

The first stage of the development of THE BEATLES LIVE! PROJECT, an Apple Corps authorized project, has begun! Digging deep into the world’s TV and radio archives and fans’ basements and attics, the hunt is on for never-before-seen media captured during The Beatles’ concert tours dating back to October of 1963—when the name Beatlemania was coined—and continuing though The Beatles’ final concert in Candlestick Park (August 29, 1966). The project has commissioned global research teams and developed social media tools to collaborate with the public, concert goers, and students—in every location where The Beatles performed!

The ultimate goal: to combine footage, images, music, interviews, and stories in a definitive, emotional and visceral feature film about Beatlemania. This cultural phenomenon not only brought the world together through song, but helped usher in what is now recognized as a golden age of contemporary music.

Production company OVOW Productions Inc. has assembled a global team of archivists, collectors, information specialists, artists, social media strategists, amateur media groups, Beatles fan clubs, writers, academics, and film restoration experts to support the activities in the field. The research will be active through December of 2012.

Were you there? Were your parents there? Your grandparents? Now, fans from all over the world can become a true part of Beatles history by contributing their original footage, photos, or audio recordings of The Beatles in concert. Visit TheBeatlesLiveProject.com to upload your media and stories, and to learn more about the project.

OVOW Productions, Inc. is a production company organized by archive, music, and production executives. With offices in Canada, the USA, and the UK, the company deploys emerging information and crowdsourcing technologies to collaborate with global archives and the public. The letters "OVOW" are an acronym for One Voice One World, a reference to The Beatles final live performance in the “Our World” satellite broadcast on June 25, 1967, seen by an estimated 350 million people.
