American Speedway, the beer guzzlin' punk rock n roll foursome from the Philadelphia-area, have nearly completed their sophomore album A Bigger Boat (due Winter 2010). A 7" vinyl single will be released in Fall 2010 and the featured track entitled "Howl (Ya Doin?) is exclusively streaming on Stereokiller.com right now - http://www.stereokiller.com/ AmericanSpeedway .
In January 2010, Lorraine "Dirty" McGurty joined the band as the new lead guitarist. McGurty was lead axe for an all female metal band called WENCH, who (in the early 90s) had a good amount of success domestically and also toured throughout Europe and the UK several times.
American Speedway is most known for topping the charts on Sirius Satellite Radio, Punk Channel 29, with their hit single "One Foot In, One Foot Out" back in Summer of 2008. They also charted on CMJ's Heavy Rock charts with their single "Ship of Fools" in November 2008. "Ship of Fools" was the title track to their debut album released in January 2007.
The band has engaged on tours with The Meatmen, as well as provided main support for The Supersuckers, Mike Watt, Valient Thorr, just to name a few.
The street date for A Bigger Boat has yet to be set, but it will be released by Prophase Music, and distributed nationally by MVD Entertainment Group. The bands sophomore release will be available on CD and vinyl. The vinyl will include a card with a unique number so fans can download the entire album on MP3.
