The 2010 Kerrville Wine & Music Festival is coming up Labor Day Weekend, September 3 – 5. This annual celebration of songwriters and Texas Wines will be held at the Quiet Valley Ranch, 9 miles south of the Texas Hill Country resort community of Kerrville on TX Hwy 16.
Not a typical “wine tasting” event, this 3-day festival is mostly about music and will feature three 6-hour evening concerts and two 2-hour afternoon concerts with over 2 dozen singer-songwriters.

We are excited about this year’s musical line-up and feel that it covers just about everyone’s musical tastes. In addition to our complement of word class singer songwriters, we’ve got some eclectic jazz with Snarky Puppy, Celtic rock with Dallas’ The Killdares, western swing with Austin’s Marshall Ford Swing Band, and Southern Rock/Soul/Crank music from Austin’s Uncle Lucius.
We are also thrilled about the return of some of our Kerrville favorites like Tom Kimmel (Nashville TN), Berkley Hart (San Diego CA), SONiA (Baltimore MD), and Kevin Welch (Wimberley TX).
There will also be 3:30–5:30 p.m. wine seminars on both Saturday and Sunday. The performers for the Friday evening concert include Tom Kimmel (Nashville TN), Acoustic Eidolon, Seth Glier (Massachusetts), Baskery (Stockholm Sweden), and Berkley Hart, Uncle Lucius (Austin TX), Matt King (Nashville TN), Corinne West & Kelly Joe Phelps (San Francisco CA), SONiA, The Killdares (Dallas TX). The Sunday night closing set will feature John Fullbright (Okemah OK), Kevin Welch (Wimberley TX), The Trishas (Austin TX), Marshall Ford Swing Band (Austin TX), and Snarky Puppy (Brooklyn NY/Denton TX). Each of the evening concerts start at 7 p.m. with the outdoor theater gates opening at 6 p.m.
The Saturday afternoon concert will feature finalists and/or winners from the 2010 Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Competition for Emerging Songwriters in an In-The-Round format including Chet O’Keefe (Nashville TN), Kate Klim (Boston MA), Andrew Delaney (Dallas TX), Wyatt Easterling (Nashville TN), and Kim Richardson (Mountain Home AR). The Sunday afternoon concert will feature another group of emerging songwriters including Anthony daCosta, Raina Rose (Austin TX) and John Elliott (Los Angeles CA). Both afternoon concerts will start at 1 p.m. at the Threadgill Memorial Theater in the Quiet Valley Ranch campgrounds. (Pleasantville NY),
Yes, we’ll also have wine! The goal for the wine portion of the program is to send guests home with a greater understanding and appreciation for the wines of Texas. In recent years wines from Texas have compared favorably to those from France, California and the rest of the world. After 6 p.m. each evening, ten Texas wineries will have booths in the main stage theater where they will have tastes, glasses, and bottles of their current vintage available for sale.
There are also Wine Seminars held on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The theme for each of the seminars will be “Start to Finish” where we will give participants samples of a four course meal starting with an appetizer, moving through to dessert, with each course paired with a Texas wine. The Saturday afternoon wine seminar will be “Italian”, and the Sunday theme will be “Southwestern.” Each of the seminars will begin at 3:30 p.m. on both Saturday, Sept 4 and Sunday, Sept 5 and will be held in the newly renovated Threadgill Theater in the Quiet Valley Ranch campgrounds. The advance price for each seminar is $8 per person in addition to your festival admission. Once the festival starts, any remaining seats will be available in the main stage theater for $10 each.
A wide range of food and beverages are available in the theater and the campgrounds. We also have Arts & Crafts booths, escorted hill country bike rides, and like the Kerrville Folk Festival in the spring, the spectacular after-hours song circles and jam sessions in the campgrounds.
The three-day, Labor Day weekend advance discount adult ticket price is $90 and includes campground access and lot parking. Single-day, advance discounted tickets are $30 ($35 at the gate) for Friday, $35 ($40 gate price) for Saturday and $35 ($40 gate price) for Sunday.
