Armed with a cavalcade of out-of-the-box ideas and a passion for exploring uncharted musical territory, London-born experimental singer-songwriter CJ Young brilliantly breaks down the barriers how music can be recorded and experienced with his new release ‘BUDS’.
The self-produced 6-track EP is a spellbindingly unexpected collage of sounds, produced by an assortment of unconventional, modified, and traditional musical instruments. Featuring the songs “Tin Spoon” and “Fireflies” as well as the added bonus of several rarely performed tracks, CJ explains that ‘BUDS’ was specifically “designed to be listened to on headphones, to give a three dimensional feeling to the song. On a stereo you can only really hear what's in front of you, but once the music's in your ears I can make a sound fly across your face, even be inside your head. I want someone to be walking along a street with their headphones in and hear car crashes, rain fall on their shoulders, witness the music spill out into the world around them.”
Most recently, CJ headlined at London’s The Regal Room with host Tony Moore (of Kashmir Club/The Bedford Fame), for a show that was broadcast for online viewers in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and India. Stay tuned for more information about CJ’s music and upcoming performances.
