Transcendent Man A Conversation about the Future



What if you could live forever? Transcendent Man LIVE! A Conversation about the Future with Ray Kurzweil from Lincoln Center in New York City on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 8:00pm ET/ 7:00pm CT/ 6:00pm MT and 8:00pm PT (tape delayed) explores this idea with renowned futurist Ray Kurzweil and an all-star panel.

NCM Fathom, Ptolemaic Productions and Therapy Studios are partnering to present a LIVE and all new in-depth discussion to explore Kurzweil’s theories on immortality and the Singularity, a point in the near future when technology will be advancing so quickly we won’t be able to keep up, unless we merge with the intelligent machines we are creating. This idea is known as the Singularity. While radical in his beliefs, Kurzweil, touted as the next Thomas Edison and has accurately predicted the onset of many world changing technological advancements including the Internet, social media and more.

This LIVE event will be moderated by Ellen Ratner and Alan Colmes and include an introduction by Ray Kurzweil presenting his vision of our future and then immediately move into a live panel discussion about the ideas featured in Transcendent Man. Panelists include but are not limited to experts and luminaries such as NY Times best selling author and founder of the Chopra Foundation Deepak Chopra, Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Wozniak, NY Times best selling author and leading theoretical physicist Dr. Michio Kaku, Transcendent Man director Barry Ptolemy, renowned inventor Dean Kamen and others. In addition, there will be special appearances from celebrities including Al Gore, Bill Maher, Quincy Jones, Elon Musk and Suzanne Somers.
